On-site Sewage Disposal System. For those that are unfamiliar with what that is, it is a system for those who are in rural areas to treat all the wastewater coming out of our homes. The system is meant to treat all the black and greywater leaving the house before it is reintroduced back into the environment. If we do not treat the wastewater properly before discharging it, we will contaminate the ground and water around us which can cause unsightly areas around the discharge and if it gets into our drinking water supply, can make us extremely ill or worse.

The Nova Scotia Department of Environment regulates the type and size of the system for each site but every site contains similar components to make up each of these systems -- a collection tank for liquids and solids (Septic Tank) and a disposal field. These two components make up the basic septic system but can get much more elaborate depending on the needs and constraints of the site.

At Ideal SepticWorks we assess each lot with the homeowner and try and match the most economical and efficient system with the needs of the owner and the site conditions. Every lot is different and every homeowner has their own unique needs that have to be taken into account when choosing the system that best suits their needs.
